1. How do I register my child for soccer?

2. When does the soccer season begin and end?

There is no traditional season in youth soccer. Most areas play a fall season (August through December) and a spring season (January through June). Many competitive programs may play with only a short break in the winter and a short break in the summer including our program.

3. Where is the club located?

The Club’s official mailing address is POB 701, Kingshill VI 00851 and our training location for our Youth Program is hosted at the St. Joseph High School Playing Field.

4. What is the registration cost for the club?

The registration fee varies depending on the season. All prices are listed in our registration packet when you sign up. Specials are available for parents with more than 2 children enrolled in the program and for St. Joseph Catholic High School students.

5. What are the age groups for the programs offered?

We accept young boys and girls from 3 age  to 16 years of age. We also have a Senior Men’s team for older people who may be interested in the senior sessions.

6. How many practices are there per week?

Usually, teams practice at least two-three times per week.

7. What are the training days and times?

The youths train on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm and on Saturdays from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm. Monday’s training is only done in the Spring and Summer sessions.

8. What equipment do I need?

Shin guards are required for all practices and games. Cleated shoes are needed if play will be on wet, muddy, or soft surfaces. For very young players, sneakers will do fine.

9. Does the club accept donations?

Helenites Sports Club is a non-profit organization. As a result, the club has to host fundraisers to gain income to assist with the purchasing of uniforms and training equipment. Donations are greatly appreciated. 501 (c) available upon request. 

10. How long does practice last?

Practices for players six and younger should be no more than 45 minutes. 8U players practice one hour. 10U players are about an hour and 15 minutes. Older players practice for about an hour and a half.

11. What does my child need to bring to practice?

Soccer shoes, shin guards, a positive attitude and plenty of water or Gatorade.

12. What is the cost for the Uniform?

The uniform training kit includes a t-shirt, a pair of socks and pants and this cost $30.00 per kit.

13.  Is insurance included or is personal insurance required?

It is always good to have personal insurance, however, all registered players in our program must be registered under the AAU Insurance which covers them in training and games. The cost for the insurance varies per year and this runs from September 1 to August 30.

14. What does the U mean in U7?

The player's age is 7-and-Under.

15. What size ball do you use?

Under-7s and younger play with a No. 3. Under-10 through Under-12 play with a No. 4. Players Under-14 though adult use a No. 5.

16. How many players are on a team?

6U play 3v3, 8U play 4v4, 10U play 6v6, 12U play 8v8 and older teams play 11v11. See more recommendations for Small-Sided Games.

17. How big is the field?

Field sizes vary by age group. For 6U we recommend 30x20 yards, 8U 30x25 yards, 10U 55x40 yards, 12U 75x50 and 14U-19U play 100x50 up to 120x80 yards.

18. My child has a disability, is there a place for him or her?

Helenites Sports Club does not discriminate. If your child has a disability, please contact us so we can see how best he or she can be included in the program. We will try to arrange a specific schedule based on your child’s disability.

19.  Can I wear a cast (or earrings, religious medals, or eyeglasses)

The FIFA Laws of the Game prohibit anything which is dangerous to a player or other players. Referees determine if an item can be worn without being dangerous.

20.  Do you host tournaments to showcase players’ development?

Yes, we partner with other local clubs to host small-sided games. We also host our Spring into Action tournament in March and invit players from St. Thomas to partake in this tournament.
